Invitation for membership in the Consortium for Workers’ Rights

The Advocacy Training & Resource Center (ATRC) and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) in Kosovo invite civil society organizations (CSOs), trade unions and human rights activists to join the Consortium of Workers’ Rights, the main purpose of which is to advocate for workers’ rights.

The establishment of this Consortium is part of the project supported by the European Union Office in Kosovo, “Protecting and promoting labour rights of vulnerable groups in the labour market”, which is implemented by ATRC and BIRN.

All public and private sector workers, especially workers from marginalized groups such as women, youth, minority communities and people with disabilities, face many obstacles to the realization of labour rights in Kosovo.

Through the creation of this consortium of CSOs, trade unions and human rights activists, the aim is to take initiatives and advocate for changes in the Law on Labour, the Law on Labour Inspectorate and other bylaws related to the field of labour rights.

Before the commencement of the Consortium activities, a work plan will be drafted which will serve as the basis for the finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Consortium members. This Consortium will meet every two months until the end of 2023 in environments suitable holding for such meetings, with duration depending on the initiatives and tasks that the parties will take.
